Sakena Parker was born in Brooklyn, New York, and now proudly resides in Queens, New York. As the third of four children, she was raised in a lively and active family environment that helped shape her strong sense of community, service, and leadership.
Sakena earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance and later obtained dual Master's degrees in Information Systems and Project Management. Her educational background has strengthened her analytical thinking, organizational expertise, and leadership capabilities, providing a solid foundation for a successful professional career spanning more than two decades.
For over 20 years, Sakena has worked in the technology sector, specializing in the implementation and support of enterprise applications, with a primary focus on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Financial Systems. Her commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement has enabled her to successfully lead and contribute to complex technology initiatives that enhance organizational performance and operational effectiveness.
Professionally, Sakena is a team member at Northwell Health, where her passion for serving others aligns closely with the organization's mission of improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves. She is known for combining strategic thinking, project management expertise, and a collaborative leadership style to drive meaningful results.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sakena has dedicated more than 20 years to volunteer service within her church community and through service on nonprofit boards. A pivotal moment in her journey occurred in 2006 when she attended a women's conference and witnessed powerful, dynamic women leading with strength, grace, and purpose. That transformative experience ignited a lifelong passion to inspire, uplift, and encourage women to recognize and embrace their God-given potential.
Throughout the years, Sakena has served as both Co-Lead and Supervising Chair for Women's Conferences and annual Christmas Toy Giveaways, initiatives that have positively impacted and served more than 1,000 participants each year. Her dedication to community outreach reflects her deep belief in the power of service and collective impact.
Upon becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, through the Zeta Nu Omega Chapter, Sakena expanded her commitment to service and leadership by actively supporting the chapter through various leadership roles. She has served as Corresponding Secretary (Epistoleus) and as Building Our Economic Wealth Co-Chair, helping to develop programs and initiatives that empower individuals and families through financial education and economic advancement.
Sakena's passion for service continued through her work with the ZNO Community Service Fund, Inc., where she joined the Board of Directors and served as Fundraising Co-Chair. In this role, she has worked collaboratively to elevate the organization's visibility, strengthen community partnerships, and support fundraising initiatives that provide scholarships, community programs, and resources benefiting residents throughout Westchester County. Her efforts have contributed to advancing the organization's mission of enriching communities, empowering scholars, and creating meaningful opportunities for those it serves.
Outside of her professional and community commitments, Sakena is a devoted pet parent to two beloved fur babies who bring joy, companionship, and balance to her life.
