A Love Letter to Nature
In collaboration with the Westchester Land Trust and other community partners, A Love Letter to Nature brings together initiatives that create meaningful and lasting impact across our local communities.
At its core, this initiative supports youth and families in making informed, wellness-focused choices. It encourages healthier living by increasing access to fresh fruits and homegrown vegetables while fostering a deeper connection to nature through practical learning experiences.
In Mount Vernon, NY, the program assembled 400 grow bags, each capable of producing up to 30 pounds of fresh produce and filled with a variety of vegetable and herb seeds. This community event featured interactive gardening activities, composting education, and live cooking demonstrations. The Westchester Land Trust's Pollinator Pop Up also highlighted the essential role pollinators play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Earth Day Impact
In partnership with the Westchester Parks Foundation and Volunteer New York, our Earth Day initiative mobilized community volunteers to care for and restore shared green spaces across Westchester County.
Together, we supported cleanup efforts along the Bronx River Parkway Trail in White Plains and at Huguenot Park in New Rochelle, helping preserve the beauty and accessibility of these vital community spaces.
To mark the occasion, in 2024 and in 2025, we planted cherry blossom trees across Westchester County, contributing a lasting symbol of renewal and environmental stewardship that will continue to enrich the park for years to come.
A Celebration of Herbs
As part of our Enhancing Our Environment initiative, we hosted A Celebration of Herbs, a program dedicated to supporting the health and wellness of older adults in our community.
This engaging experience introduced seniors to the benefits of growing and preparing fresh, healthy foods. Participants left with bags of herb seedlings and a custom cookbook designed to inspire continued healthy cooking and gardening at home.
